StoryBrand Element: Hero meets Guide

Timing: Immediately on opt-in

Goal: Confirm the opt-in, lead with empathy before credentials, center the investor as the hero — not you. Set expectations for what's coming. End with one low-friction CTA.

What This Email Does in the StoryBrand Arc

In Donald Miller's framework, the first thing the Guide does is demonstrate empathy — "I understand where you are." Authority comes later. Most operators write Email #1 about themselves. That's backwards. Your new subscriber is thinking about their problem, not your credentials. Meet them there first.

Structure

Opening: Acknowledge the moment — why they found you, what they're probably thinking or feeling right now. Don't start with "I" or "We." Start with them.

The empathy statement: Name what they're looking for without oversimplifying it. The best passive investors aren't chasing returns — they're looking for certainty, simplicity, and someone they can trust with capital they worked hard to build.

What's coming: Tell them briefly what they'll receive over the next few weeks. Set a clear, honest expectation — not a sales funnel, not pressure. Just a conversation.

Your welcome: One or two sentences about who you are — but frame it around what that means for them, not your resume.

CTA: One action. Reply and say hi. Visit your website. Follow you on LinkedIn. No investment pitch yet.
